NB: You will need the Airport textures. Make sure you read the notes below.

DESCRIPTION:

Bush Flying Unlimited, BFU, is a small outfit that operates in Washington state. It was formed by a small group of bush pilots who have made a good name with customers. Lured by the wilderness of the Great North, they have set plans to expand their operations to SE Alaska. They have chosen the stunning surroundings of Ketchikan to set up their FBO for the North. Bold Island will serve as their base; it is a tiny, heavily forested, tear-shaped piece of land, situated a few miles southeast of Ketchikan and on the gates to the Misty Fjords. With construction just completed, the FBO features a decent airfield that can handle small and medium-sized props, a dock for floatplanes and boats, communication facilities, maintenance workshop and stores, a field office, and accomodation to house bush pilots on rotation basis. A fuel area exists between the construction cones near the fuel tank. Hidden in the thick forests of the island, you will also find camping sites and vacation cabins. The island features an NDB with a frequency of 515 Khz. Its ID is BFUn. Look out for the deer. And most of all, enjoy your bush flying........ Naji

OTHER SCENERIES IN THE FS2002 SERIES:

1. Fox Camp................... Holiday fishing camp. With it comes a bonus smallish bush campsite called Fox Outpost1
2. Sandy Cove.................A warehousing and redistribution centre to serve the outlying communities of the Misty Fjords.
3. Fox Outposts 2, 3......Two small bush locations that are part of the Fox Camp theme.
4. Moudi Farm............. A farm in the Misty Fjords.
5. Shore Point.............. A base camp for a building contractor in the Misty Fjords.

INSTALLATION:

NOTE: You need the Airport textures to be installed. These are available on SurClaro

1. Unzip BFUnorth.zip to a temporary folder

2. You will end up with a directory called BFU North which contains seven folders: Readme IMPORTANT, Trees, Smoke Effects, Thanks/Legal, BFU Information, Scenery and Texture.

3. Go into the Trees folder, and read carefully through the TreesReadme file. This is a MUST please. If you have previously installed my bush scenery Fox Outposts 2&3, then the trees will be on your system, and you can go on below.

4. In the Smoke Effects folder, please see the SmokeReadme.txt file for proper placement of the three Effects files. You don't need to do this if you have previously installed the Smoke Effects.

5. It is preferable to place all addon sceneries outside FS2002. I personally use F:\FSScenery for all addons that I download for FS2002. Of course, your drive may be other than F:\ . Just drag the directory BFU North (with all its contents) from the temporary folder over to FSScenery or wherever you group your addons.

6. Start FS2002. Under 'World', choose 'Scenery Library', then 'Add Area'. Under 'Look in', browse to the location of BFU North, double-click on it, and choose 'Scenery'. So if you have placed this addon in F:\FSScenery, under 'Directory' in the dialogue box you should read the following: F:\FSScenery\BFU North\Scenery. Give it a Scenery Area Title BFU North, check the option 'Use this scenery directly', then OK. The title of the scenery will appear on top of the Scenery Library list. Click OK to go back to the sim. Better that you restart FS2002.

7. You can go to BFU North by two methods:

a) Under 'World', choose 'Go to Airport', then choose 'Search Add-on Scenery'. BFU North should be on the list, with several options for water and land starts.
b) Use 'Search Places', Global Region: North America, Country: United States, State: Alaska, City: Naji's Bush Scenery. Under 'Search Results', you will find BFU North.

ALTERNATIVE INSTALLATION:

My bush sceneries for FS2002 can be grouped together. If you prefer to group them to save harddrive space, make a general folder with the name of the series, Naji's Bush Scenery, and under it make two sub-directories: Scenery and Texture. Then you can copy all contents from the Addon\Scenery (like this one BFU North\Scenery) to Naji's Bush Scenery\Scenery, and likewise for Texture. If you have done this alternative installation before with any of my previously released sceneries, you will be asked whether to copy over some existing files, just say 'Yes For All', since these are the same files as before. I would also suggest that you keep the readme files, by naming them after each addon.

NOTES:

a) I have tested the scenery with both the default FS2002 terrain, and with Eddie Denney's free-download FS2000 Mesh for Alaska. It works fine with both.
b) BFU North appears on the map and on the GPS, with the code BFUn.
c) To improve framerate, reduce the Terrain Mesh Complexity slider to around 75-80%. This won't affect visual quality. Also you can limit visibility to 15-20 miles
d) To see a dramatic improvement in the bush visuals, I highly recommend that you install Ed Truthan's conifer trees (Filename: conifers.zip), and the river replacement by Holger Busekros (Filename: newriver.zip)
d) Scenery complexity is adjustable between Very Sparse and Very Dense.
